AUTUMN IN JACKSON HOLE

To be in the Tetons and Yellowstone viewing the color change of the aspens is truly specatcular!!  Splashes of golds, oranges, bright yellows with some vibrant red of bushes on the mountainside is so breath taking!!  We just love this time of year even though the fall is preparation for the winter which is beautiful as well!   Some popular road trips would be south of Jackson through Hoback Canyon and Gros Ventre Corridor and you just might come across some wildlife.   Sharing wildlife sightings is the most popular topic of our guests at breakfast time.

I cooked breakfast this morning while Brad served…. we started our guests with a freshly prepared yogurt parfait of layered yogurt with bananas, strawberries, granola topped with a blueberry.  For the main entree was a gourmet veggie egg scramble with fresh zucchini, tomatoes and onions sauteed then mixed with eggs topped with shredded cheddar cheese, dollop of sour cream sprinkled with parsley.   The sides were toasted english muffin and slice of watermelon.   It always does the cook’s heart well when the plates come back clean.

Reminder:  Starting October 1 our rates drop dramatically which includes a continental breakfast.  A good time to still enjoy the coolness of the mountain air and drive through Grand Teton and Yellowstone Park before they close the end of October.

We invite you to stay with us at our special bed and breakfast lodge that offers intimacy, personableness, service, chance to meet new friends, privacy if you desire, close proximity to historical town square and best restaurants and shopping in Jackson Hole!!   Treat yourself to a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind!!!!!

Verse or thought for the day:   “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”  1 John 4:4

Howdy partners…….hope that isn’t too corny but it is the WEST!!  How the summer has flown by and now the fall is around the corner which is our favorite season.  Colors and cooler temps …….how does that sound to those of you who have suffered intense heat!!   We just posted our 2013 rates online and website will be updated very soon.  Like this year we are anticipating a great 2013 season.  Bed and breakfast destinations seems to be the favored lodging with the advantages of personableness and very best amenities.  We are already listing our improvement projects for next season……….fun, fun :-)

Wildlife sightings in Teton and Yellowstone Parks seem to be in abound with our guests this year unlike in years past.  If possible we recommend wildlife expeditions to assure of wildlife pictures.   Let us know when you visit us if this is something you would like to do.

Frequent questions asked us by guests:  How long have you lived in Jackson Hole?  How old is our Victorian bed and  breakfast?  How far is Grand Teton and Yellowstone from us?  How long have we run a bed and breakfast?  Are we having a good season?  Why is there a hallway leading to nowhere?  What restaurants can we recommend?

We look forward to your visit with us ……..CHECK OUT AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER SPECIALS……..YOUR HOSTS,

What an amazing summer we have had and to think it is about over but the fall, ahhhhh, we do love the cooler temps!!   The beginning of September is quite busy and we are offering a super September special.  Any two or more nights for any room will receive 10% discount.  Contact us as soon as you firm up your dates and we will reserve a room of your choice based on availability.

Bed and breakfast Inns are ever increasing in popularity because of the intimate setting and contact with the Innkeepers.  Most of our guests state they love bed and breakfasts and favor staying  at one whenever they travel.   Few of our guests even invite us to stay with them if we travel to their home area……..how nice is that  :-)

Upcoming event is the Art Fair this weekend.  Fabulous and creative artwork.  Brad and I hope to visit the exhibits.  They typically offer fun foods and music.  Other events to consider is Bar J, a chuckwagon supper and cowboy concert……it is professionally done.  We took our grandchildren to Bar T last weekend, another chuckwag

on/cowboy experience which is more geared towards families based on the horse drawn wagons transporting you to the camp area where food and entertainment exists.   Brad and I have attended the J.H. Playhouse showing “Ballad of Cat Ballou”…..lots of humor and fun!!   Today we are golfing nine holes with dinner at Teton Pines…….good deal!

Before the parks close in October I need to take Brad to the upper loop of Yellowstone for he hasn't seen it yet.  Remember he just moved to Jackson Hole as a result of our marriage in January so he hasn't seen all of the park.   We have worked hard but do allow for some recreation.  Well, hope all is well with you all……….look forward to your visit.  God bless to all and may our paths cross at least once or twice.       Innkeepers,   Nancy and Brad

Thought for the day…..”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”   Matthew 11:28-29

Ballet held at Center for the Arts.  There is never a lack of something to do here in Jackson Hole.  Big event coming up for Sept. 8 & 9 is the Fall Arts Festival which has booked us full for the 8th and almost the 9th.  I love the month of September for the colors and temps.

I am so thankful for the special team that has loyally and faithfully help us serve ou

Here is hoping that you will one day come to visit us………..verse of the day “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”  Prov. 4:23

What an incredible beautiful sunny and 70′s weather today particularly tempting for you folks who are suffering from intense heat where you live.

Brad and I took some time yesterday to try a restaurant called The Kitchen and heard about their shrimp appetizers which were amazing.  Then we attended the J.H. Playhouse who are putting on “Ballad of Cat Ballou”  which was well done and comical.  Perhaps you can fit in some special western type activities while you visit Jackson Hole and in between visits of the Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks.  A wonderful event we recommend is Bar J Chuckwagon Supper and Show.  Great value and incredible cowboy singing and comedy.   I attend Bar J every year so you know I love it…….leaves you with such a light hearted spirit.  Laughter is good medicine.  Speaking of which, Brad and I love to banter with each other so be prepared to laugh with us and not to take too serious our teasing each other.  Life is too short to be so serious particularly in these times.

We are so thankful for the wonderful guests we have met so far and treasure all the special times we engaged in endearing conversations.  Thanks for opening your hearts and lives to us.  You are very special to us!!

Verse and thought for the day:  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. “   I John 1:9

God Bless you Everyone……………Nancy and Brad , your Hosts from Grand Victorian Lodge

HIGH SEASON IN JULY

We are in full swing with business which is why I haven't blogged for a couple weeks but knew you would understand.   We have been receiving some wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor and are very thankful that you took the time to write some encouraging words.  You truly are guests staying at our house of 11 bedrooms which are uniquely appointed.  I just put out our homemade cookies which are chocolate chip and peanut butter.  The weather is truly perfect today…….80's with very little humidity.

I have to tell you about our golf adventure this past Wednesday at Teton Pines Golf course.  We were driving to the 4th hole and there was a cow moose with her twin babies.  We had to go around and wait till her and her babies moved from their grazing.  We ended up teeing off about 30 yards from them….risky, eh?  But it was apparent that they were more interested in eating vegetation than us.  Wildlife sightings have been abundant particularly this time of year.  In fact, I have guests staying wi

th us now  and they sighted a grizzily with four cubs.  Very unusual!!

Thought for the day:  “For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.  Oh, come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker !!   Psa. 95:3-6

Come and see us and take in the magnificent Teton Mountain range, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone…..you won't regret it :-)

Hi….what a fabulous time we have with our guests.   Guests from Colorado and Florida had a great time exchanging stories and this morning a retired hot air balloon owner and scientist from Switzerland had a good discussion.  It thrills our hearts to see guests interacting and getting to know each other.  Some end up exchanging emails and phone numbers………the combination of people from all over the world is endless.   We have a great job, eh?

Where else can people come together in a homey atmosphere eating breakfast together meeting interesting people.  I have always said that peopl

We added an activities page to our website so check out our recommendations for favored things to do like horseback riding, whitewater rafting, float trips, chuckwagon and cowboy concert plus our top restaurant picks.   Whatever we can do to help make your visit in Jackson Hole and Grand Victorian Lodge something you will always remember.

Hi ……..beautiful weather, beautiful Inn, beautiful scenery and beautiful guests.  We are meeting fabulous guests coming from all over the world….lots of Florida people are escaping the intense heat they are experiencing.  Kevin, Heather and family just left this morning after staying 10 days with us.  Sure enjoyed them and their darling two daughters.  They saw all kinds of wildlife that met their bucket list.

I made my mother's old fashioned bread crumb pancakes this morning and guests loved them!  Thanks mom:-)  Brad has been making his delicious fruit smoothies several times a week.  We try to keep each morning breakfast an anticipated treat…..we have a breakfast board where the next morning's breakfast is posted….guests like to see what is coming!  Homemade cookies always await guests each afternoon to evening.

Weather has improved so much that I believe all the roads in Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks should be open.  We can act as a nucleus for y

our fun activities in Jackson Hole and take in the Teton Park which is only 20 minutes away and at least the lower half of Yellowstone.  Some of the major recommendations for fun in Jackson Hole are :  horseback riding, whitewater rafting, scenic float trips, Bar J chuckwagon suppers and Cowboy singing and fabulous restaurants within walking distance.

Brad and I want you to know that we want to create your home away from home bed and breakfast here in Jackson Hole.  When a guest walks into our lobby upon checkin the word “beautiful” rolls off their lips more often than not.  We are a tucked away Inn away from the crowds and traffic but not that difficult to find………we are the best kept secret off the beaten path but convenience to everything is not sacrificed…….check us out…see you soon!!
